I’m excited to share that I’ll be speaking at Making Things Happen this year!
Making Things Happen is a two-day conference in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The purpose of the event is to help you uncover your vision and goals for your life and create a plan to make it happen! (exactly as the name suggests!)
And, what’s even better is that this week you can get 50% off your ticket to attend!
I’ve been a huge fan of Making Things Happen since I attended in 2012 in New York City.
Back then, the intensive was a 1-day event and each group was kept very small so that we could really connect with the hosts and each other. I learned about the event from social media when I stumbled upon Lara Casey’s blog. I had been following Lara on social media for over a year and just loved her mission and brand.

Lara Casey and me at Making Things Happen in 2012
What I loved most about Making Things Happen is that it was the first time I felt that I could learn how to be intentional about moving my life in the direction I wanted it to go. At the time, I was working in New York at Essence.com and I absolutely loooooved my job. But I didn’t love working in New York. I remember leaving Making Things Happen and seeing Lara, Emily, and Gina and thinking, “Maybe I can turn my passion for beauty and digital marketing into my own business and brand one day.”
If you’re like me and you didn’t grow up seeing people who had their own personal brand or you’re wondering how to find people who will help you think through the different possibilities there can be for your career, I highly recommend joining us at Making Things Happen.
I’m a firm believer in the phrase, “you can’t be what you don’t see.” For SO long I knew that I wanted to do something creative in the beauty industry that still allowed me to work in digital marketing AND that allowed me to work from home. (Y’all, commuting into New York for seven years had worn me out! I was determined to figure out how to NOT have a commute again. EVER!)
It wasn’t until I saw Lara’s business and started reading her blog that I was finally able to have an example of how exactly I could have a brand, do something creative, and work on my own terms.

You will absolutely LOVE the women (and a few good men!) who attend Making Things Happen. Most of us all come from creative backgrounds and we are entrepreneurs who use digital marketing to build our business and online community. It’s so refreshing to be in a community of people who “get” you, and you will truly find this at MTH.
I want to say thank you to Lara and the Cultivate What Matters team for inviting me to be a part of this year’s event. I’m such a huge fan of Lara’s work and have used her blog, books, and PowerSheets to truly transform my life and business, while also growing my faith.
It’s SO surreal to see my face on the same flyer as Lara Casey, Katelyn James, Nancy Ray, and Amber Housely, all of whom I follow online and have even purchased their online courses!
I am so incredibly grateful to this group of women and cannot WAIT to attend this year’s event!
Don’t forget, you can save 50% off your ticket this week with the code ILLBETHERE. Hurry and take advantage of the flash sale today!
